Swim

Olde Providence has a swimming complex with it's own entrance and parking area. The complex includes a 25-meter junior Olympic swimming pool with double slide, a zero entry baby pool and a bathhouse with locker rooms. Members can rest easy knowing that certified lifeguards keep watch over the swimming and diving areas. We also have a children's playground and a deli just a few steps from the water. Food service is provided by Sweet & Savory catering. The setting is perfect for relaxing, swimming laps or enjoying poolside parties.

Members of our swim team enjoy early access to the pool for practices and other gatherings throughout May. We kick off our summer on Memorial Day weekend with festivities by the pool followed by limited weekday hours. After Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools lets out for the summer, we are open daily from 10 to 8. Hours are reduced again after school re-opens with Labor Day as the final event for the season.

Wireless Access is available for your convenience.

Swimmers, take your marks...

We invite all Olde Providence members ages 5 through 18 to join our swim team, regardless of their ability or experience. It's a great way for youngsters and teens to perfect their strokes, make new friends, and experience being part of a team. Olde Providence is in the South Park Swim League and competes against six other division teams. Expect six swim meets per season.

Swim team registration for the 2019 season will begin late March. Please send an e-mail to OPRCSwim@gmail.com to receive registration information when it becomes available.

All swimmers who are new to the team are assessed to determine their swimming ability and comfort level in the water. In order to swim in a meet, each child must be able to swim 25 meters of freestyle unassisted without signs of distress. This means no help from coaches, parents, officials, lane lines, or walls. Those who are close to mastering the 25-meter swim will have an opportunity for reassessment before each meet. Coaches continue to work with children at practice, regardless of their ability to compete

  • Practices will begin mid-May; the season will be finished before July 1.
  • Practices are in the late afternoon, by age group (beginning no earlier than 5:30, finishing no later than 8 p.m.).
