InterclubThis league is the premier women's tennis league that is played exclusively on clay courts. This is the oldest and most well established league in Charlotte. Club teams form official practices and all members are placed on a team at the appropriate level. Teams play on Tuesdays and Thursdays during both the spring and fall seasons. USA League TennisFormerly the USTA League, participants play only within their own level of play and participate in local competition with the opportunity to advance from the local level to state, regional and national levels. Team matches consist of doubles and singles play. Teams play on Mondays and Fridays in the spring and fall season. USA League SeniorsTeams play on Monday and Friday mornings. All players must be 50 years of age or older to be eligible. Play is in the spring season only. USA Super SeniorsPlayers must be 60 years of age or older to participate. Play is in the fall season. Queen CityA Charlotte city league comprised of women and men, in doubles and mixed doubles play. Women's League play is on Wednesday and Saturday. Men's play is on Saturday mornings. Mixed Doubles play on Sunday afternoons. Men's Triple DoublesThis is an in-house evening league for OP members who can commit to a fun format of doubles. Teams of 3 men play one doubles match each week during a season that typically last 8 to 10 weeks. Players are drafted onto teams prior to the start of each new session. Times and levels are below. Regular round robins are offered free to members and their guests. A staff member helps place you in enjoyable matches. Players provide balls. Round robins, by definition, are open to all levels of play. The emphasis is on fun tennis and this is a great way to meet new players. SATURDAY 11 AM- 1 PM This is the granddaddy of the OP round robins. Always lots of fun! Typically 8 to 12 courts full of doubles play with players ranging from not-so-hot to real hot-shots! Please arrive early near the sign up board and give Dave your name. Dave will match you up for two rounds of doubles. USTA Sanctioned Events for 2011Banana Open Tennis Tournament - April 15-17Online information and registration USTA National Husband Wife Clay Court Combo Doubles 100, 120, 140 Championships. May 2-5.Be a part of this great event. Husband wife doubles teams from all over the country come to play for this national clay court championship. NC State Junior Clay Court Open - August 1-4Singles and doubles events for juniors in age divisions from 10 and under to 18 and under. USTA NC Junior Tournament of the Year in 2008. NC State Senior Closed Tournament - October 20-23This annual event brings the best OP players together with the best players from all over North Carolina for a USTA sanctioned odd-age division (35, 45, 55, 65, 75, plus OPEN) tournament. Special EventsCardio TennisThis is a high intensity training session aimed at burning calories and having fun on the tennis court. All adult players are welcome. Maximum of 16 participants. Sign up in advance with . Class taught by Chad York, Head Pro. Saturday Morning Men's and Women's Drills - Weekly Sign-upNew program created and run by Tennis Director, John Meyer. The focus will be doubles drills, with emphasis on ball placement and movement. The ultimate goal will be getting your doubles game to the next level. Men's clinic is from 8:30 until 10AM. The Women's clinic is from 10:00 until 11:30 AM. The cost is $22 per clinic for members and $26 per clinic for non-members. Contact John Meyer at the club if interested. Free beer and lots of fun! The Terrace Cafe will be open…matches start at 7:00 PM. Charlotte Pro LeagueThe "best tennis in Charlotte" is available at OPRC on Thursday evenings from early July to mid-August. Men and women players with an NTRP level of 5.0 or higher are drafted onto teams playing for prize money and bragging rights. Bring your friends to watch the matches! Play begins at 7 PM.
