John Meyer - Director of Tennis Programming
Certified by the USPTA and the Professional Tennis Registry, John is a career tennis professional whose quick smile gives away his enthusiasm and love for the game of tennis. John achieved both All American and All Conference status twice while attending Anderson Junior College. At the University of North Carolina, Charlotte, John earned All Conference honors and played #1 doubles. While at AJC, John won a National Doubles Championship. John's professional teaching career started in 1993 as the Head Professional at the Charlotte Indoor. As a co-director of tennis at OPRC, John focuses on creating fun new programming for OPRC juniors and adults. John's personality and unique approach to the game makes him a popular coach and tennis resource for the OPRC membership and the community. Equally important to John is the development of non-instructional venues for OPRC members to enjoy tennis. John loves to create and run round robins, socials, tournaments, leagues and "fun events" for club members.
Sean Snee - Junior Development Director
USPTA certified professional Sean Snee is a veteran instructor and administrator who has specialized in coaching high performance level junior players. His on-court energy, techniques and enthusiasm translate equally well to the broad spectrum of adult and junior players from entry level to high performance. Sean played varsity tennis for The Pennsylvania State University, earning Team Captain and Hardest Working Player awards. In 1999 he also graduated with a Master's degree from The West Virginia University. Prior to coming to OPRC, Sean served as the Director of Administration for the Charlotte Tennis Academy for almost a decade. In that position, he served as lead pro for clinics at all levels and was responsible for developing fitness plans for students. He also ran the Mountainbrook Tennis and Swim Club summer program for several years and taught Physical Education in the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system.
Jerry Orr
Jerry Orr has a strong 20 + year background in teaching competitive juniors as well as adults of all levels. As the Head Tennis Professional at the Charlotte Tennis Academy since 2003, Jerry worked with a broad range of junior players in private and group lesson settings. A USPTA certified professional, Jerry also has USTA umpire experience and helped coach U.S. Davis Cup Wheel Chair players. Jerry started playing tennis at age 16 and quickly advanced in the junior ranks. He earned a college scholarship and played varsity tennis at Jefferson State University in Birmingham, Alabama. Jerry earned a degree in Recreation Management. Since college, Jerry worked as the Director of Tennis at Pine Lake Country Club, Assistant Pro at Cedardale Racquet Club in Boston, MA and Head Pro at Sardis Swim & Tennis Club.
Zen Mottershead
Experienced as a tennis professional and administrator in both private tennis club and large summer tennis camp environments, Zen Mottershead has worked with a wide spectrum of adult and junior tennis players over the years. A USPTA certified professional, Zen is a NTRP 5.0 player whose English parents helped him discover the joys of tennis at an early age. He enjoys teaching both group and private lessons, as well as organizing club mixers and social events. A graduate of Virginia Tech University, Zen has also completed coursework toward an M.A. in Sport Psychology at Georgia Southern University. In addition to his tennis background, Zen has taught and organized platform tennis and racquetball programs. Zen has coached many adult USTA teams to local and sectional success. As the Head Professional at The Elkridge Club in Baltimore, Maryland, Zen worked with men’s league and women’s league teams. As the Director of Adult Tennis at Farmington Country Club in Charlottesville, Virginia, Zen taught adult and junior league teams, as well as private lessons. At the Boston Sports Club in Andover, Zen taught juniors ranging from beginners to advanced tournament players.
Rob Castorri - Director of Tennis InstructionRob has been involved in the sport of tennis for over forty years and as a professional tennis player for thirty years. Growing up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Rob played and practiced with many of the world’s top players. His playing accomplishments include having won professional tournaments in Europe, the Caribbean, as well as in the U.S. and over 18 national team and doubles championships since turning pro in ‘78 and being ranked #1 in Florida in the Men’s Open division. He has victories over such notables as Boris Becker, Pat Dupre, and Harold Solomon. As a collegiate player at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, Rob was a two-time All-American and four-time school MVP. As a coach, Rob has trained several collegiate and professional players. As a club manager and event promoter and creator, Rob has founded and operated clubs for the past 30 years. His tennis events have been unique to each of the areas he has lived in and include pro celebrity doubles, international juniors, the elite seniors from the United States, and most recently, a collegiate invitational. Even at the prestigious Wimbledon tennis championships, Rob created in 1993 the press corps tennis event and has been running it ever since.
